In recent weeks we have done a lot of work on our website. It still looks the same, but the changes we made are on the backend. One change we made is we moved our blog to our site. This is something I bring up to clients all the time, yes it cost more to do it but the benefits are BIG.
So what are the benefits are of having your blog as a part of your website, rather then a stand-alone web address. Adding a blog to your website is a win-win for both the website and the blog.
First of all, having an active blog as a part of a website means having a website that is constantly being updated. The search engines love updated content. It helps improve your rankings getting you closer to that first page on google. This will take your static site and help make it “busy”.
Also, a blog within your website will have a navigation bar just like any other page on the site. This will seriously help boost your website traffic, since it means that your readers are only a click away from the rest of your site. Everything is in one place.
Some other advantages of having a blog that is directly connected to your website are having a dynamic, sharable channel for announcing upcoming events, updates and promotions you might have to your established client base. And regularly providing your readers with thoughts and information related to your business will ensure that your company stays in the front of their mind the next time they need to hire someone.
Blogging takes work and we all know that, your always wondering what to write, and how to say it. It takes research if you really want to offer your readers something worth reading. You don’t always want to write about “you” says rhonda hurwitz, and she is right, you need to offer information, advice, etc.
