Printing your own business cards?

Printing your own business cards may seem like a wise idea because of the money you could save but it might not offer as many benefits as you think.  What are the disadvantages to printing your own cards verses having them printed and designed professionally?

You have hired a designer to design and develop your brand (I hope), now its time to design your business card.  I have said this before “your business card is an important part of your business” its the first thing you give to a potential client.  Do you really want to hand over a poorly designed and inexpensive print job?  Or do you want to impress your potential client with a nice printed piece?

The disadvantages of printing your own card:
• Design limits
• Paper stock
• Typography
• Overall quality
• Staying with a pre designed template

The advantages of hiring a professional:
• Flexibility in design
• The right paper stock
• The right typography for your brand
• Good printing quality

Letting professionals do the work for you will at least ensure that you have a clean, visually balanced business card to hand out to people. Nothing gets ignored and forgotten faster than an overcrowded, hard-to-read business card.

Even with a smaller budget you can still have a good, clean, basic business card design.
