When is the last time you sat down to blog?
When I first started blogging, I didn’t think I had much to offer and didn’t think I could tell anyone anything new. I didn’t think people would read or be interested. But I knew I had to start doing it and knew how blogging worked hand and hand with websites. I am a designer, that is what I do and that is what I love, now all of sudden I had to be a writer. What I wrote had to make sense. In the beginning is was not easy, and it still takes a lot of thought. I admit I am a terrible speller, I am always checking my spelling and still to this day miss things.
I knew I was resourceful, creative and dedicated to my business, so I started to blog. To blog you have to be:
• Self-motivated
• Be disciplined
• Have confidence
• Be resourceful
• Be prepared to fail, but have the ability to keep going
• Be aware of what is happening
• Treat blogging as part of your routine
The benefits of blogging are great. It has made a big difference in my rankings, it has made me smarter and more aware of what is happening in the design/website world. I can now advise my clients on how and why blogging will help. I have also met some very resourceful people, people who have helped me and advised me on the art of blogging.
The point here is if your not blogging, you should. Pick a subject you know about and write about it. It takes time but people will pay attention. One of the last blogs I wrote I got 10 positive responses.
So I ask, what valuable things have you learned from blogging and what has it done for your business?
